Popular author, Lawyer and former Presidential Aide, Reno Omokri has taken to social media to attack the conventional Christian practice of holding weddings in elaborate church gatherings.
Reno Omokri, on twitter condemned the practice claiming “Africans were brainwashed to see White Wedding as Christian Wedding.”
The social media critic started out with a tweet on the list of some items and practices which according to him were unnecessary for a Christian wedding.
He also gave a list of the necessary requirements for a Christian Wedding.
He wrote: “Read Scripture. A Christian wedding goes like this:
- You find a girl
- You ask her to marry you
- She says yes
- You inform parents
- You leave your parents house
- You have a feast you can afford
God made it simple. Man complicated it!” he added.
In his usual #RenoNuggets, Reno Omokri also opined that only parents’ blessings are needed in Marriage and not a pastor or priest. He added to his assertion by claiming Christ attended a wedding in a house and as a Guest.
“Church has absolutely NO ROLE in a Christian wedding,” he said. Read scripture, Marriage is purely a FAMILY AFFAIR. Parents bless it, not pastor or priest. Even the wedding Christ attended was at a Home and He was invited as a GUEST!”
In recent times, since the lockdown necessitated by the coronavirus pandemic started, which forced a social distancing rule and reduction of gatherings to very few numbers, wedding events have been forced to conform to the government polices, a contrast to the common norm of large gatherings in churches.
Reno Omokri also added in his flood of tweets that based on his research, “not a single marriage in the scripture involved a church, temple or synagogue.”
“None involved a pastor, priest or prophet. Isaiah only invited a fellow priest as a WITNESS, not as an OFFICIATOR!” he said.
He later on posted a video to summarize his claims and explain what he termed as “The True Christian Wedding Churches Don’t Want You to Know About.”
