Uwa was allegedly raped and murdered by some men on May 27, 2020 in a church belonging to RCCG in Benin, Edo State.
The men were said to have made their way into the church auditorium where she was strucked with a fire extinguisher, raped and left for dead.
Earlier on, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye had taken to Social media to condemn the nefarious act. He also called on the public to join in prayers for the family of the slain lady.

Oby Ezekwesile, through her twitter handle however, called on the police to cooperate with the RCCG in getting to the root of the murder.
She said it should be a thing of worry for the government at all levels that “our daughters and women in general increasingly feel unsafe in the country because of the culture of impunity that has normalized sexual violence. Change this now. Lead for conclusive actions on all cases.”
In a related development, the Nigerian police have began investigation into the case, and have deployed forensic experts plus investigation aids to the State to fish out the perpetrators of the evil.
However their are concerns by the Police that the case might not be one of sexual violence as it has been widely alleged on social media.
