World renowned evangelist and author, Dr. Morris Cerullo is dead. He died on Saturday in San Diego, California, aged 88.
Cerullo, born on October 2, 1931 in New Jersey to Russo-Jewish/Italian Parents became a believer at the age of 14, and started preaching at 15.
Earlier on July 9, Dr. Cerullo’s Family had requested for prayers via a post on Facebook, indicating that he was being treated for Pneumonia in the hospital.
“Dear Friends, we would appreciate your immediate prayers for Dr. Cerullo who is being treated for Pneumonia at the hospital.”
“Please also pray for Theresa who has been working around the clock o assist in his care. She needs your prayers too for extra strength at this time. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers for Morris and Theresa!” The post disclosed.

While reacting to his death, founder of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission, Bishop Mike Okonkwo, described Cerullo’s demise as a shock.
Bishop Okonkwo, who invited Morris Cerullo on several occasions to preach said; “My father- Dr Morris Cerullo! Like a good soldier of Christ, you fought a good fight, finished your course and kept the faith.”
Senior Pastor of Word of Life Bible Church, and former CAN and PFN president, Ayo Oritsejafor also said about the late man of God;
“My Father, mentor, and friend Dr Morris Cerrullo has ascended to heaven. My heart goes out to the entire Cerrullo family. Your legacy will forever be remembered.
“Rest on God’s General. You will be greatly missed. RipMorrisCerullo.”
Morris Cerullo started his evangelism ministry- Morris Cerullo World Evangelism (M.C.W.E.) in 1961, and in 2011, he launched the daily television show, “Victory Today.”
Over the decades of his ministry, the evangelist preached to Presidents and Prime ministers in different countries.
He also shared the gospel in different countries across the world, including Nigeria, Brazil, Korea, Zimbabwe, The Philipines, South Africa, Kenya, Indonesia, Mexico, and Netherlands.
In addition to receiving numerous awards and recognition, Cerullo in May 2015, received the prestigious Lifetime Global Impact Awards.
His demise, is one out of notable Christian icons who have passed on to glory in recent times, following Reinhard Bonnke, who died in late 2019, and more recently, Ravi Zacharias who died on May 19, 2020.
