Many a times, we all have heard one voice which brought about a drastic change in our lives.
Someone somewhere has said a word to us which either marred or made a greater part of our lives.
We lived in the consciousness of this voice! I experienced a share of this in my tender age.
I was in JSS1 and my school was preparing to hold her annual End-of-year ceremony.
As it was common in most schools back then, each class has to present something on that day. My class teacher decided that my class would present a short drama.
With all enthusiasm and excitement, I eagerly went out when she called out for interested casts. On sighting me among the volunteers, she said to me: “Go back to your seat! You can’t participate in the drama.”
With a confused look, I tried to convince her in my own little way that I can act well.
But with all seriousness in her expression, she said, “You can’t participate with this your SALUBATA (what she meant literally was that, I don’t have a good sandal) and my classmates couldn’t help , but laugh at me.
I couldn’t stop the tears from flowing down my face till I got home that day! I felt so bittered and angry at myself for not having a good sandal and blamed my parents because they couldn’t provide it for me which caused me an opportunity of going on stage on the End-of-the-year’s party.
Growing up, I started feeling I was never good enough for anything. Whenever an opportunity presents itself for me to stand before an audience and make a presentation, I would consciously reject it.
I had the feeling I don’t have what it takes to go up on stage no matter how small they are in number.
I lost my voice! I lost my self-esteem! My courage, I became bitter! I was always nagging! I became so touchy!

I was always seeking people’s validation in almost every thing I wanted to do and whatever feedback I get from them, I stick to! I became a shadow of the younger me.
Thankfully though, I came out of all of that, and regained my real self.
Friends, whose voice did you hear and you lost your self-confidence? What words were spoken to you and you got dejected? Who spoke to you and you lost your self-esteem?
No matter how long you’ve been in the self-doubt position, there is always a way out! I was once there!
I thought I WAS NEVER GOOD ENOUGH but little did I know that GREATNESS LIES IN ME!
Friends, it’s time to be deliberate about what makes you tick. Enough of thinking you are not fit enough! Put a stop to seeking other people’s validity!
Keep a positive mental attitude, it has a huge role to play in shaping your orientation of life.
It wouldn’t always be smooth, but you can overcome that storm. Regardless of what people say, do or think, SMILE! Download AFFIRMATIONS and declare them to yourself loud and clear!
Listen to messages, surround yourself with the right people, And you will do just fine!
In conclusion, as you go through the activities of each day, keep saying to yourself : “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” (Phillipians 4:13)
Blessings!
