In the first part of the teaching- ‘What Pentecost is,’ I defined the origin and background knowledge, as well as the central theme of Whitsun or Pentecost, which is the Holy Spirit.
You can refer back to the teaching to get a previous understanding of the topic in discussion
In this second part, I will state the conditions for receiving the Holy Spirit, and provide you with knowledge on the Person of the Holy Spirit.
Conditions for receiving the Holy Spirit
The first condition therefore to be met before receiving the Holy Spirit is to be washed in the BLOOD OF JESUS. Simply put, you need to Repent of sin.
The BLOOD of JESUS makes us Highly Inflammable and Susceptible to the Fire of the Holy Spirit.
The Blood of JESUS signifies to the Holy Spirit that someone here is getting qualified for the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
Yea, we do receive the Holy Spirit when we repent from sin as the SEAL of our acceptance by God and for that, the Holy Spirit is called the ‘Spirit of adoption’ – that is, God gives you the Holy Spirit to seal and authenticate you as His child by adoption (Ephesians 1:13, Romans 8:15).
The measure of the Holy Spirit we receive at salvation is like drinking from a Cup or being sprinkled with a hand. At Baptism, we are deepen into the River of God soaked from hair to sole!
The Blood of JESUS opens the door for the Holy Spirit to come. The Blood alerts the Holy Spirit of a ready soul.
Where the Blood of JESUS is, the SPIRIT is willing to come. The Blood of JESUS preserves us from being turned to an ash heap if the Holy Spirit falls.
If we do not get washed in the Blood of Jesus, the Holy Spirit will never come and if HE does come, HE will turn us to an ash heap as He will be coming as a Consuming Fire rather than as a Refiner’s Fire (Leviticus 10:2; Hebrews 12:29, Malachi 3:2).
You can receive the baptism of Holy Spirit, even if you have not been baptized in water. Baptism in water is NOT a requirement to be fulfilled in order to receive the Holy Spirit, but should not be neglected. I speak from experience.
As for who the Holy Spirit comes for, in a crowd of 8 billion on earth, He is attracted to the one who is washed in the Blood of Christ.
The Blood of JESUS makes the room (your body) that will be occupied by the Holy Spirit ready for Him to come and abound.
It is important to note, the Holy Spirit is NOT a gift or prize for being perfect but Jesus gives Him as a tool for working and helping us to get perfect. The Holy Spirit is referred to as a Gift in the sense that it is a gift from the LORD for coming into His family (I John 3:1,24).
The Holy Spirit is not repelled by our shortcomings we experience after being saved, our weaknesses attract Him as long as we seek Him desperately. For to them that have no might, He increases their strength for He gives Power to the Faint (Isaiah 40:29). His strength is made perfect in weakness.
The Holy Spirit is called Holy SPIRIT not just because He is holy in nature but also to indicate what He has come to do in our lives. He is called Holy Spirit because He was sent to make our spirits holy.
“The Holy Spirit is the Best Gift of God’.
The Holy Spirit is the Best Gift of God both thinkable and unthinkable. To have the Holy Spirit means you are accommodating the One who moved over the face of a massive volume of water in Genesis 1.
To have the Holy Spirit means you are accommodating the One by Whom God will destroy the Antichrist (II Thessalonians 2:8).
To have the Holy Spirit means to wield the Power by Whom God raised His Only Begotten Son from the dead (Romans 8:11; Eph 5: 17,19-20).
To have the Holy Spirit means that God who said the earth is my footstool and heaven is my throne, has somehow squeezed Himself into you.
To have the Holy Spirit means to have the Spirit of Wisdom, Understanding, Knowledge, Counsel, Might, Revelation, Power and Fear of the Lord with you ( Isaiah 11:1-2).
To have the Holy Spirit means to have Holy Rivers within you from whence healing, power and might flows ( John 7:37 -39).
To have the Holy Spirit means to be God’s residential address here on Earth. To have the Holy Spirit means to be the most likely person God would use if He wants to do a thing or say a thing on Earth.
To have the Holy Spirit means to have the Power that will pick up the saints on the day of rapture abiding with you.
To have the Holy Spirit means to be selectively anointed by God Himself and with Himself ( 1 John 2:27).
To have the Holy Spirit means to have the Being responsible to verify, validate and authenticate the Will and Word of God dwelling in you.
To have the Holy Spirit means to have the Being that descended on Jesus in the river Jordan dwelling in you.
The Holy Spirit is a Capsule of all Blessings both present and eternal. His effect transcends into eternity for on that day on rapture when the trumpet shall sound He will be the One lifting you to meet the Bridegroom.
The Importance of Faith
The second criteria for you to receive the Holy Spirit is YOU MUST HAVE FAITH. Faith is the livewire with the Power of God connecting man to God and Earth to Heaven.
If you pray in FAITH, God will give you the Holy Spirit. Faith means to believe that God can give you His Holy Spirit and for believing, He will do His part by giving you the Holy Spirit.
As to when you shall receive the Holy Spirit after you have kept all these criteria, it is in one Word – SUDDENLY! (Acts 1:7, Acts 2:2). The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is Instantaneous and Spontaneous.
You do NOT need to go to Jerusalem to get your Pentecost, your locale is as good as Jerusalem.
If God listened to the request of demons who besought Him for a new accommodation, why then will He refute your prayer.
If the devil was so ‘liberal’ to give unto a single person over 6,000 hellish spirits that this man was called Legion why won’t the liberal God give you His Spirit.
Look around you. Identify one person HE has given the Holy Spirit. If He does not give you too that will be partiality. For sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.
JESUS will not give you a devil. Don’t allow the Devil threaten you. He is a liar! Do not be afraid of asking. JESUS will not send an impostor. He will send the Holy Spirit.
He has promised to and WILL do it. If He doesn’t that is a breach to His Word which can never be (Luke 11:11-13).
Among the ways you may receive the Holy Spirit includes:
Course of prayer
Course of worship
While studying the Word of God
While Reading an Inspired book.
While listening to the Word of God
Laying on of hands
From inspired dream/visions to fulfilment
I can’t tell you how you will receive the Holy Spirit may be as you read these document, all I know, if you will ask, seek or knock, assuredly He will come.
Grace, Peace and Love be multiplied unto you from God our Father and His Son, Jesus Christ.
