Everyone has a story! some stories motivates, others… Well, lets leave those ones for now. I trust you will be motivated and be encouraged with my story, that suicide is never the answer.
My name is Ebenezer Benson, and sure God has really been my help.
What we perceive as negative often turns out to be the best thing that ever happened to us.
Many times in life we may not understand why God has permitted us to be in a hard place or in difficult circumstances.
But if you wait a few years, and then read your life backwards, you can often see His good purposes.
Sometimes the seeds of our dreams don’t germinate for months or years or decades. But if we plant and water, God will give the increase in due time.
Immediately I graduated from Secondary School, Government Science Secondary School Jalingo to be precise, that was far way 2008, my school was one of the best Government Public Schools in Taraba State, and perhaps still the best.
Having all necessary requirements to further and go to the University, I attempted JAMB five (5) times yet I didn’t Secure admission into the University, perhaps because that was not the right time.
So you see, maybe God destined that I should undergo some transition. I applied for University and yet didn’t secure admission I decided to apply For Polytechnic that was in 2010 to study Science Laboratory Technology in Federal Polytechnic, Mubi.
Upon graduation from Polytechnic I decided to apply for Direct Entry and I still attempted Jamb again with the hope that it will be the final Jamb I will ever write.
As God will have it, I wrote the Jamb and got one of the Lowest score. 196 was the Lowest score I got since I started writing Jamb.
But God Showed his Supremacy and gave me admission to study Chemistry in Taraba State University.
After accepting the admission, my parents gave me tuition fees. But I didn’t register.
You remember I told you I applied direct entry ?
I prayed and ask God, if it was His will, I want my direct entry admission to come before Friday.
When you are confronted with problems you pray a drastic prayers
Meanwhile, the next Monday, The Taraba State University were to start late Registration and I didn’t have extra 10,000 Naira to pay.
Later a friend of mine called me on Thursday which happened to be a day to the deadline date I prayed about.
Dele, my friend called and said, “Ebenezer you have secured a Direct Entry admission to Study Science Laboratory Technology at Federal University of Technology, Yola.
That was how my Journey to the University started.
Everything was going smoothly not until I had my greatest temptation and almost commited suicide. I was in 300level then, and it was because of a carryover… Yes, you said ordinary carryover right? It was a course that I personally taught others, yet I failed it while those I taught passed. You know that kind of shame? Hmmn, depression is real!
Early in the morning around 4:00am I was coming back from class after all night reading, then this thought came, “what is the importance of the reading since you read and you still fail, why wouldn’t you go and touch that transformer that is ahead of you.”
Perhaps you might need to know the spirit that backs up suicide, I was going towards the transformer but I didn’t know the force that held me back and made me realise what God had in store for me.
That same week I heard a news of how a lady committed suicide by drinking ‘Ota Pia-Pia’ (Insecticide made for killing insect most especially mosquito) In Oba Adetona hostel at Federal University of Technology Yola, Just because of failure.
Thank God I registered the course again in the next session and sat for the examination and I did pass not just pass but came out with an “A”. Now, I’m almost rounding up my service year in the coldest state in Nigeria- the Nigerian Canada. Okay, do you know that, go check the map- and I very much believe God still has many great things for me.
God wastes nothing! Even when you have a setback, God has already prepared your comeback.
The God who works all things together for good will leverage every experience, every skill, every mistake, and every bit of knowledge you have acquired.
Yes Life is queer with its twists and turns but don’t give up.
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow.
You may succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than It seems to a faint and faltering man
Often the struggler gives up when he might have captured the victor’s cup;And he learned too late when the night came down, how close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out the silver tint of the clouds of doubt. And you never can tell how close you are It may be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit It’s when things seem worst that you mustn’t quit.
Remember failure is not final.
And remember… My Name is Ebenezer Benson! Smiles.
